Kelli Owens Hutton in the Laundry Room with a Guitar

“If creativity could be individually rebellious and a voice of the people, then Kelli Owens Hutton understood the assignment. ‘Soccer Trophy’, albeit a passion project, happened to find this intersection and more.”
– Sound & Fury

"This is the soundtrack of our lives!"

Kelli Owens Hutton made a record called Soccer Trophy and in the process created a genre called MomCore.

Soccer Trophy is brutal truth. Two minute guitar driven rock and roll songs about children, middle-age, marriage and all the shit.  It’s also funny, revealing and moving.

Kelli partnered with Grammy-nominated (in children’s music, but still...) producer Liam Davis.  They made the record in her Chicago home studio, aka the laundry room. A multi-instrumentalist Kelli played every instrument except the drums. Ok, she played bass on like half the songs too.

A Berklee College Of Music grad and major-label wash out (Atlantic records but who’s counting) Kelli took a long time off making music to raise her kids.  They are a pain in the ass but she loves them anyway.  The Dog of course comes first.  Somewhere in there is also her husband.

Kelli's latest holiday single and video for "Christmas Is Coming" is out now! “Shut Up” and "Put Your Cell Phones Down" has been released from the EP so far and the full record will be released in 2025.

The MomCore Show - Fitz .png

Kelli created The MomCore Show to showcase both her music and its comic underpinnings. Alternating between Kelli’s performance of her rock and roll composittions accompanied by her band (Gerald Dowd, Liam Davis & Leslie Beukelman), some fo the city’s top comics (Eunji Kim, Casey Alltop, Meg Johns, Bridget Frodyma & Marla Caceres) use the proceeding song’s subject matter to create comic improvisation. A set of stand up comedy by Eunji Kim & Chelsea Hood opens the show.

The next performance of The MomCore Show is on February 15, 2025 at 8:30pm at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn, IL Hit button or "Shows" above for tickets!
