Kelli Owens Hutton made a record called Soccer Trophy and in the process created a genre called MomCore.
MomCore is brutally honest, unfiltered 2 minute guitar driven rock and roll songs about life as a mom, kids, middle-age, and marriage. It’s also funny, revealing and moving. Soccer Trophy clocks in 8 songs in 18 minutes because mom's just don't have time for shit.
Kelli partnered with Grammy-nominated (in children’s music, but still...) producer Liam Davis. They made the record in her Chicago home studio, aka the laundry room. A multi-instrumentalist Kelli played every instrument on the record except the drums. Ok, she played bass on like half the songs too.
A Berklee College Of Music grad and major-label wash out (Atlantic records but who’s counting) Kelli took a long time off making music to raise her kids. They are a pain in the ass but she loves them anyway. The Dog of course comes first. Somewhere in there is also her husband.
Kelli is currently recording her follow up record with titles like "Keep Looking", "Man Flu" and "Back In The Basement". "Car Seat Hot Sun" which is about a hot flash, rage and menopause is on deck to be released next! Soccer Trophy is streaming on all platforms featuring the single "You're Such An Asshole".

Kelli is also making videos commenting on the women through music. Her video "Liar Malicious Despicable Person" is inching towards 200k views on Instagram. "The Housewives" is an original song she wrote to all their iconic quotes over the years.
Kelli created The MomCore Show which brings her music and comedy together. She performs her MomCore songs with her band and some of Chicago’s top improvisers from Second City & iO, create scenes based on her songs. Kelli also has stand up comedians perform throughout the show. The MomCore Show has sold out the main stages at The Annoyance Theatre and the historic Fitzgerald’s Night Club. The MomCore Show with special guests Eunji Kim and Kristen Toomey, will be performing next at The Hideout in Chicago May 21, 2026 7:30pm.
